Our Mission:
We are a 501c3 organization, dedicated to native forage management and public education services. We provide a sanctuary for aged, abandoned, and/or abused domestic and native animals. As an animal sanctuary, our goal is to provide refuge, as space and funding are available to at-risk animals and/or assist other rescue groups as part of a cooperative effort between animal-oriented organizations.

At Pleasant Ridge Sanctuary, every day is Arbor Day!
Pleasant Ridge Sanctuary is located on 128 acres in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. This area is known for its rolling hills and beautifully manicured horse farms. Sadly, Asian bush honeysuckle is rampant and aggressive throughout our state. They form dense thickets that block sunlight and prevent anything from growing underneath. Thus, native plants are pushed out, while new shoots are able to grow due to the bush’s high shade tolerance. Thus began our dedication to restoring the land and its native wildlife to its original beauty. While being a constant battle, this is truly a labor of love.
This is Pleasant Ridge as seen from the entrance to our farm. On the distant hill, our senior horses graze in the early spring sunshine. In the left background you can see our burn pile where we burn diseased and invasive trees and plants. This photo was snapped during a busy workday at Pleasant Ridge. As can be seen, we are in the process of burning invasive bush honeysuckle we have just cleared.
